Significance or Sacrifice?

What do you look for in a leader?

Success? Status? Stamina? Look for sacrifice. Find me a sacrificial person and I will show you a person of significance.

Whether you are a Christ follower or not, no one can argue the fact that Jesus Christ continues to have a significant impact on the world some 2000 years after his life on earth. His significance came from his sacrifice. He was born through sacrifice. He lived a life of sacrifice. He ultimately became the sacrifice.

His life started with sacrifice. In Luke 2:12 the angel said to the Shepherds,

And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.

He came as a human.

He came as a baby.

He came in a lowly manner, a manger!

Don’t miss those three signs for the shepherds. This should assault our senses and climb up into our grill. The second person of the trinity sacrificed everything to step into the confines of creation.

The sacrifice of Jesus began at Christmas, not Easter. His great sacrifice started in Bethlehem and concluded on Golgotha. The entry and exit of Jesus are marked by symbols of sacrifice, the manger, and the cross. Our lives must be deep fried in the sacrifices of Jesus Christ.

Are you fighting something that seems below you?

Are you demanding your rights and recognition?

When last time you sacrificed something significance?

Let this Christmas be marked not by what you get but by what you give up.

Live a life of significance, live a life of sacrifice.

The next move is yours.
